Meet Vic

After a distinguished 25-year as a Public Safety Officer, Vic has continued his commitment to public service as a member of the Portage City Council since 2020 and was reelected in 2021.

Vic is running for reelection on November 4th, 2025 to continue his service to Portage.

Victor Ledbetter and his wife have been residents of Portage for nearly 30 years, raising two sons who graduated from Portage Central. Vic’s career was in public safety, retiring as a Captain in the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety and serving as Director of the Police Academy at Kalamazoo Valley Community College (KVCC). In 2020, Vic raised his hand to fill a vacancy on the Portage City Council. Vic was reelected by the voters of Portage in 2021.

On City Council, Vic has championed attainable housing policies, commercial revitalization at areas such as Crossroads Mall, and has focused on advancing policies for the Portage Department of Public Safety that keep Portage safe, attract qualified officers, diversify the ranks, and increase public trust.
